Betsy Goes to the Races

13\14\15 November 2016

Betsy went to the races this weekend at Uttoxeter although a bit on the wet and cold side it was great Betsy's heater was working overtime. The pitch next to the track rails was great canopy and chairs out and watch and listen as the horses thundered by.
Betsy did sink into the ground an inch but the Caravan club staff where on hand just in case you got stuck. Now where next.

Carsington Caravan Club with Betsy

Betsy in the woods at Carsington Caravan Club site,

Can not find a bad thing to say about this place despite it raining all day Saturday. The facilities where faultless. I even liked the piped music in the toilet block. About a 2 mile walk to the visitors centre with its shops and food outlets. If you want to walk all around then i believe it is about eight miles,

Callow Top Holiday Park

04/06/2016
This weekends trip was to Callow Top park at Ashbourne Derbyshire, just a short trip as are granddaughters wanted  a sleepover in the camper.

Everything about the site is professional and streamlined which is not everybody's cup of tea. The entertainment was very good Saturday night an outside disco till about 10:30 which did not cause a problem for the grand kids all fast asleep by 20:00. The site is quite large with statics, cottages, caravans, motor homes and  Tents.

The site provides a restaurant and bar with take away avalible of everything on the menu and a large store for all those other things.

There is direct access to the  tissington trail   from there  and bikes and associated  equipment are available to hire from the site.
Dogs are allowed so Daisy was as usual along for  the ride there did seem to be a shortage of waste bins for  Daisy do though, lots of dogs around.

If you want a quit site this is not for you as there are loads of children on their bike and scooters.

Bessy's Second Trip Bowden;s Crest Somerset

28/05/2016
Bank Holiday and time for Bessy's second trip out this time to Somerset and
Bowden's Crest Holiday Park. The site is located in Langport and is down a single track lane with passing points. Watch the sat nav as it keeps trying to take you down narrow lanes.

Our stay there was very pleasant with the sun streaming down all day Sunday just what we needed after spending nearly seven hours on the M5\M6 due to the volume of traffic heading south.
There is a small bar on the site that serves meals and all the facilities were immaculate. Wifi is available across the site although is a bit patchy at times.

The site seemed popular with cyclists and there is plenty of room for the kids to let of steam, Dogs are welcome which is good as Daisy our Dalmatian does not like the kennels..

Uttoxeter Race Course

24/05/2046
First trip in Betsy straight from the garage to Uttoxeter race course a car load of equipment following behind to outfit her. A quick call at reception then a short journey to the pitch backed up to the post right against the race track rail.
After about an hour coffee was made and feet where up, now Betsy;s maiden voyage with us can begin. As the site is not far from are family after about an hour we had vistor and very welcome they where.
The site which is a club site was as you would expect well kept with very clean facilities as it was a non race day we only stayed the saturday night. Sunday morning we took the time to make sure we had secured everything and check everything was alright before we departed for the storage a few miles away.
No mishaps and all stored away can not wait until next week and a Bank holiday trip to Somerset.
